Maria Teresa Pellegrino was kind enough to give us a private 3 hour tour of her family’s frantoio (olive oil manufacturer)— absolutely fascinating- her knowledge and insight to the world of olive oil was astounding. Her family has been here for many generations and her love of the land, the tress, and the resulting extra virgin olive oil was a joy to share. I’ll never buy plain ‘olive oil’ again after the education she gave us. The highlight of our trip to Puglia!
Quite simply, one of the best EVOs I've ever enjoyed: the smell and the typical aroma of the 'Coratina' cultivar are wonderful.
I tried Pellegrino Oil a couple of years ago during a presentation in Scotland, Recently I decided to asked Maria Teresa, (the owner) if they'd ship abroad, which they do, and I bought some Coratina Oil and and organic one. The tase, the colour, the dept of these oils are something to die for! I have rarely tried such a delicious oil!
